MSD customer policy is to ensure that MSD clientele get at all times,essential drugs and medical supplies of acceptable quality at the lowest possible prices.
MSD has the obligation to serve the public and NGO sectors namely Government,Mission,Parastatal and approved private health facilities.
Government and NGO health facilities are allowed to buy from MSD at MSD basic sale prices which exclude all taxes and duties from which MSD is exempted as a government institution.
The private institutions can only buy from MSD if specifically approved by the Ministry of Health (MoH). Such approval is contingent to satisfying the Ministry that the private facility provides essential service to community in its neighborhood.
Product prices are presented to customer in the widely circulated MSD price catalogue for Essential Drugs and Medical supplies.
The price catalogue shall indicate:
- that the basic sale prices will be valid for six months for all Government and NGO health facilities.
- that the Parastatal and Private health facilities will pay some percentage above MSD basic prices(the rate is subjected to change based on the market and pricing).
- that if MSD undertakes procurement on Emergency basis for a customer,the customer shall bear all extra charges for handling and freight associated with the procurement.
- that if MSD makes a special procurement for any customer,the customer must pay specific costs associated with the procurement.In some cases MSD will ask for prepayment and letter of intent to avoid non collecting of the items.
Procedures for ordering items are as follows:
- A customer fills an order form available at MSD or order from our website.
- The filled form must be signed by an authorized officer from the health facility.
- Government hospitals utilize funds allocated to MSD by the Government.For NGO hospitals and others, goods are sold against direct payment i.e cash or bankers cheque.
- The person who collects medical supplies from MSD should be authorized by the health facility and known to MSD.
