Quality Control
Quality Assurance unit is the Technical wing of MSD. It consists of Technical staff who have the objectives of maintaining the Quality Assurance policy of MSD with a goal of making certain that, each drug and medical supply reaching a patient is safe, effective and of standard quality.
Roles of Quality Assurance:
- Overall
The overall responsibilities of QA unit are to assure the quality of all the products coming into possession of MSD.
- Specific
Specifically, the tasks and activities of the unit are divided into routine and non-routine. They include Technical and Managerial activities spanning the entire supply process from product selection, to final use.
ACTIVITIES:
Routine:
- Inspection of in-coming goods:
- Collection and monitoring of samples sent for analysis.
- Performing analysis
- Handling certificates of analysis.
- Handling quality related customer’s complaints.
- Monitoring supplier’s performance on quality issues.
- Post marketing surveillance of items distributed by MSD
- Inspection of warehouses.
- Interacting with Customers
Non- routine activities:
- Maintenance of the item master by up-dating the range and technical specification of Pharmaceutical product, Medical supplies & equipment and Diagnostic supplies.
- Interacting with the professional bodies on Regulatory and Legal requirements e.g. TFDA, PSU, Nursing unit and Diagnostic unit at Ministry of Health
- Interacting with suppliers on quality issues.
- Mobilization of expired drugs and obsolete products.
